There have been reports by people who have come close to death but survived. But no one has actually died and come back to tell us what truly happens.
I have been looking at death for a long time even before Human Design. It was not a morbid fascination but a need to understand. I wanted to know more than the fear of death that was all around me.
I have been working over the years with a woman who I have known a very long time. Her body is getting older and much of our work is looking at death and being very real and honest about it. Death is such a taboo subject. People do not want to talk about death. As if by not talking about it – one can avoid it. There is no way to avoid death. Each of us is given a round-trip ticket.
Through my own experience and my understanding of Human Design, I have come to see death in a very different way. This began long ago, in my late twenties. But one experience about 15 years ago revealed something profound to me. I was in a hotel and tripped on the last step by the elevator. I was on my way up to a conference room on another floor where I was giving a workshop for Generators. There was my body – with a left ankle that was so badly broken that it was swiveling and a bone in my right foot was also broken. There was this incredible awareness of watching it all. And there was my mind telling me “if you can only get to the room, you can still do the workshop”.
Everything I learned in Human Design about the vehicle and the passenger were there in that experience. There was the vehicle – the body/form – hurt and broken. There was the self-reflected consciousness of the passenger – just seeing with no judgement and no agenda. And then there was the mind that was still trying to direct the life. It was so obvious that the mind had no clue to what was going on. It was so ridiculous what this mind was trying to get me to do.
Just as my vehicle was severely injured – the vehicle also dies. “You” do not die. Your body does. So it helps to start to see the body in a different way. It is your vehicle. It is that which allows you to have an experience – a journey in this life. We are consciousness in form. The form is the vehicle and it is this that dies. It helps to begin to see the body in that way in order to accept and relax into the death of it. So many people when there is sickness or pain – say “I am so sick”. Or they say “I have a terrible headache”. If you can change that to “My body is sick” or “my body has a terrible pain” – you will begin to separate the vehicle from the passenger.
I have worked many years with people to help them see the mind and how it tries to keep control over the life. Most people believe the thoughts they have about themselves and their life to be true. I have suggested that if a person has a thought “I need to quit my job” – that they write down “My mind thinks I should quit my job”. Doing this begins a process of really seeing the mind and how it has manipulated how we feel about ourselves and our lives and how it has pushed us into action. It has also created most of the mental and emotional anguish we experience. By separating the mind from the passenger, we actually begin to experience the consciousness that is the true gift of the passenger.
It is this consciousness that sees the body as separate from itself.
It is this consciousness that sees the mind as separate from itself.
QUARTER OF MUTATION
Each human being is an aspect of the totality of the whole. Each person when living out the strategy of type, not only gets to live out who they are but in doing so – they get to serve the purpose of the whole and the evolution of the whole. Each person in life has a very specific purpose and the Incarnation cross that we are born to is an impersonal aspect that we fulfill. Each cross is like being part of a cell in a much larger organism.
The 64 hexagrams of the Rave Mandala are divided into four quarters. Each quarter is a different realm. We are each imprinted by the quarter we are born into and we each have a specific purpose to do in our incarnation. No incarnation is more important or special than another. Each is important as it fulfills an aspect of the whole.
The message is always the same. Live your strategy and authority and you become yourself. In becoming yourself, you live who you are, live your purpose and serve the whole.
When I saw that my incarnation was in the Quarter of Mutation I understood my interest in death. The Quarter of Mutation is where all mutation comes into the world. We do not initiate mutation, it comes into the world. It is a change in information and frequency. The theme of this quarter is that purpose is fulfilled through Transformation. And I can see the truth of this for myself. With the transformation I went through by living my strategy and honoring my inner authority, I experience being fulfilled. I never had that before. Each quarter has a mystical theme as well and here the mystical theme is “Accepting death”. All my wondering about death in this life was because of this theme. What dies? What doesn’t die? These questions were a deeper part of my search in this life. And for myself, I have the answer now.
A SIMPLE LOOK THROUGH THE EYES OF HUMAN DESIGN
WHAT MAKES US WHO WE ARE
We are embedded with crystals of consciousness – the yin and the yang. The yin is the Design crystal and the yang is the Personality crystal. They are not related to each other in any way and they are very different.
The Design consciousness is the vehicle. This consciousness runs our body/form. It is what drives and guides our vehicle and we have no access to it. In that sense it is unconscious consciousness.
The Personality consciousness is the passenger. It is what sits inside the vehicle in the back seat. The mind wants to believe it is the driver but it is not. The mind also wants it to believe it is in control of the trajectory. It is not. The vehicle has its own consciousness and that is driving it. The passenger in that sense has nothing to say about the vehicle and where it is going.
Our Evolutionary Process
The Design – the form - has been ignored for thousands of years. This is the true gift of Human Design. It is this that brings about the evolution from 7 centered living to 9 centered living. (please see free slide show for more on this). Through Strategy and Authority – the Personality consciousness surrenders to the Design consciousness. By doing this, we allow this incredible mechanism to run without interference. The mind hates this as it wants to continue thinking that it is the authority and that it can still influence the Personality. By surrendering to the form, the passenger gets to relax more and more in the back seat. It is no more involved in where the vehicle goes and what happens along the way. It is looking out the window and truly beginning to see for the first time.
The Passenger has the potential of self-reflected consciousness. This can only happen when it gets to that place where it recognizes that the mind is not capable of running the life. But it is not only the Passenger that is impacted by no longer allowing the mind to run the life. The body is impacted too.
Every decision that is made with the mind adds to the deterioration of the physical vehicle – the body/form. We begin to heal our body when we operate correctly. In the collective medical field, all bodies are looked at in the same way. It is a homogenized system. But we are each unique. There is an innate intelligence in the Design consciousness that has a unique survival strategy.
I love that Strategy and Authority eliminate resistance. Resistance really wears down the vehicle and shortens our lives. By eliminating resistance, we have healthier vehicles and the passenger begins to experience well-being.
Our vehicle is an extraordinary thing. Surrendering and letting it run our life is unbelievable. But for most of us, we think that our vehicle is who we are. We are attached to it. Because of that thought, we actually believe that we die. Our body is what dies. The consciousness that resides within the personality does not.
The Passenger has no age! It is the body that ages, gets old and dies. When the mind runs the life, it has us believing that when we look in the mirror and see an old body that we are old. We are not. We are ageless. This that sees and observes does not die. The mind tells us so many things to create fear of death in us as if death can be avoided. The body - the vehicle - has to die. And it's like the cars that we drive - as they age - things deteriorate.
I think this is why when a person with an old body looks in the mirror and sees that body they are somewhat shocked. They don't feel that old. Well, the truth is - they are not that old. They are forever young. And I don't mean this in a trite way. The consciousness that resides in our personality is forever young. It is this that goes back to where it came from after the death of the body.
Ra on Basic Design Concepts: The Mechanics of Death
I have shared with you on this webpage my seeing combined with a simple understanding of Human Design knowledge. But I wanted to include this from Ra.
"In the knowledge that I received in 1987 there was a great deal of information that was given, a great deal of information about the nature of being—Rave Cosmology—the way in which consciousness formed and moved and was directed. The way the incarnation of consciousness onto this plane into this form principle took place. I was given the design, or the mechanics, of the various forms: the forms of bio-life, inanimate forms and trans-auric forms.
I was also given something else. I was given knowledge about the mechanics of death. Death is a touchy subject for humans. Given our self-reflected consciousness, we are deeply aware of its potential very early in life, and carry that awareness with us throughout our lives. There are so many taboos associated with death in the various cultures throughout the world. It’s something that you have difficulty dealing with.
The personality crystal of somebody who has gone beyond biological death, that personality crystal is sitting and waiting to be picked up. And yet, so few actually are. The reality is that it takes up to 72 hours for the crystal to be able to return to its proper place. That is, 72 hours in which the human body is not disturbed in anyway—no autopsy, no removing of organs, no placing of the body beneath the ground. Three days. Oh, I know that it’s difficult, but we no longer live in the age of fire. Most concepts of immediate burial arose out of countries that were very hot. You couldn’t leave bodies for days. To do so was to bring disease and plague and whatever.
But that’s simply not the age that we live in now. It’s something very important to keep in mind: there is a correct way to be in the world, and there is a correct way to leave the world. If you have to deal with the death of loved ones, of friends, of family, it is something truly to keep in mind. Give the body at least 72 hours; give that personality crystal an opportunity to return to its source."
